For the second time in less than 6 years, United States welcomed the world as Olympic host in February 2002. Despite the earlier controversy surrounding the IOCs host city selection process and the sobering events of September 11, the games in Salt Lake City were a tremendous success. Next up, Athens has the 2004 summer games.I went to the Atlanta Olympics in the summer of 96 and Im hooked Its exciting to be a part of the Olympic movement but even if you cant get to the games, you can still get into the spirit. I was and remain opposed to bestowing this honor on the capital of a repressive country, but the deal is done.
